The rules of engagement for using SearchBulb.
The TL;DR
Don’t use our tools for illegal stuff. Don’t abuse the service. We’re not liable if you break something. The tools are provided “as is” — we’re a solo dev, not a Fortune 500 with a legal team. Use common sense and everyone stays happy.
I’m a solo developer building tools to help people. Don’t be the reason I have to hire a lawyer. Please.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using SearchBulb (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not access the Service.
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
2. Description of Service
SearchBulb provides free SEO and web analysis tools including (but not limited to):
- Robots.txt testing and validation
- Schema markup generation
- Sitemap generation and analysis
- Redirect checking
- SEO auditing tools
- Related utilities for website optimization
All tools are provided free of charge unless otherwise specified. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Infringe upon intellectual property rights of others
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or user data
- Use automated methods (bots, scrapers) to access our tools excessively
- Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
- Attack, harass, or harm other users or websites
- Reverse engineer or attempt to extract our source code
- Use our tools to scrape or spam third-party websites
Any use of our tools for hacking, scraping competitors at scale, or other shady activities results in immediate IP ban. We don’t mess around with this.
4. Account & Access
Currently, most SearchBulb tools don’t require accounts. If you create an account in the future:
- You are responsible for safeguarding your password
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
- You may not share account credentials with others
- We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these terms
5. Intellectual Property
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by SearchBulb and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You retain ownership of any content you generate using our tools (schemas, sitemaps, etc.). However, the tools themselves, our code, design, and branding are our property.
6. Rate Limits & Fair Use
To keep the service free and fast for everyone:
- Reasonable usage limits apply to prevent abuse
- We may throttle or block IP addresses showing excessive automated usage
- Commercial use is allowed but bulk/automated scraping is not
- We reserve the right to prioritize traffic during high load
Need higher limits or API access? Email me. I’m reasonable and happy to work with legitimate businesses that need more juice.
7. Data & Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using SearchBulb, you consent to our data practices as described therein.
While we don’t store your search data permanently, avoid inputting highly sensitive information (proprietary business secrets, personal data) into free online tools. Use common sense.
8. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- We don’t guarantee the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted
- We make no warranties about accuracy of tool outputs (always double-check critical SEO changes)
- SearchBulb is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Maximum liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us (which is $0 for free tools)
I’m one person building this. While I strive for excellence, bugs happen. Always verify critical SEO changes before deploying to production. Don’t blame me if you accidentally block Googlebot with a wrong robots.txt rule (though our tester should catch that 😉).
9. Termination
We may terminate or suspend access to our Service immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms.
All provisions of the Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive (ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity, and limitations of liability).
10. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of [Your Country/State], without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes arising from these terms will first attempt to be resolved amicably. Seriously — just email me. I’m a reasonable person.
